If you’re looking for an introduction to tracking, or a course to advance your existing Wilderness Living skills, then we’ll have something here to interest you…
Lifting the Veil is our introduction to the amazing world of tracking animals and humans. You learn the basic tracking concepts we teach, using our unique Integrated Tracking Method (I-T-M).
All courses are taught and lead by Geoffrey McMullen who has trained hundreds of people from many walks of life, including the public, police, armed forces and counselling professions with great success. In fact, many have goneon to use these skills to great effect in their day-to-day jobs.
Born in Belfast, Geoffrey served in the British Army for 22 years, where he was taught some of his survival skills at The International Long Range and Reconnaissance Patrol School in Germany.
During his Army service he received a British Empire Medal from the Queen for establishing a Nature Reserve in Germany called the ‘Zachariassee.’ On leaving the Army he worked for Raleigh International as their logistics manager in Belize. While in Belize he gained experience in Jungle Survival from Winston, a renowned survival expert, and in more recent times, with Ian Cradock of Bushmasters in the jungles of Guyana.
He’s also trained with Thomas Schorr-kon from Trackways in the UK and Tom Brown Jr at Tom’s world renowned Tracker School in the United States of America. Some years ago, Geoffrey established Natural Pathways – Paths to Survival – teaching survival skills with Hannah Nicholls. Being an avid ‘birder’, he’s taken part in various worldwide bird projects and ringing programmes; collected data for breeding atlases in Germany, Canada, Saudi Arabia, the Falkland Islands and being a gifted artist – illustrated several bird books.
Recently, Geoffrey completed a Masters (MSc) in Addiction Psychology & Counselling at South Bank University London, where his dissertation explored the effects of Nature Awareness on people with addictions. Now based in Devon, he has worked with young men in a residential school and as a volunteer with a rehabilitation centre and a Drop In centre for people with addictions. Geoffrey recently presented Natural Awareness to the 7th Wilderness Therapy Symposium in Boulder, Colorado, USA with great success. He also has Remote Wilderness First Aid and has just achieved his 2nd Degree in Reiki
Being a committed life-long learner, Geoffrey continues his personal development by taking on board the views and worldly experience of his students and clients.
